Jordan Chiles has recently spoken out about the decision to revoke her bronze medal in the floor exercise event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, sharing her deep disappointment and frustration over the ruling.
In an emotional statement posted on Instagram, Chiles expressed the profound impact the decision has had on her. "I have no words. This decision feels unjust and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has supported my journey," Chiles wrote.
Chiles, who has dedicated years to her sport, noted the pride she feels in representing both her culture and her country. "I've poured my heart and soul into this sport, and I am so proud to represent my culture and my country," she said, emphasizing the depth of her connection to gymnastics and the honor of competing at such a high level.
The controversy stems from a technical issue regarding a scoring inquiry that Chiles' coach, Cecile Canqueteau-Landi, submitted four seconds too late. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that the inquiry, which was supposed to be filed within one minute, was not valid due to this delay. As a result, the International Gymnastics Federation decided to honor the CAS ruling, which led to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu being reinstated as the third-place finisher in the floor exercise final.
