Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially had her name legally changed. As confirmed by PEOPLE, Shiloh will now go by Shiloh Jolie, dropping her father's last name. The petition to change her name was filed on her 18th birthday in May, marking a significant step for the young adult.
Shiloh, born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, is one of six children adopted or born to the high-profile couple.
Angelina Jolie, 49, and Brad Pitt, 60, also share Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15. The family has been in the public eye for many years, and this recent name change has drawn significant media attention.
The process of changing her name was not without complications. In July, Shiloh's hearing was postponed due to an incomplete background check.
According to Shiloh's lawyer, Peter Levine, the delay occurred because of a clerical error that prevented the court from completing the necessary background check in time. The hearing was rescheduled for August 19, as required by California law for name-change requests.
As part of the legal process, Shiloh was required to publish a notice of her name-change petition in the Los Angeles Times. This publication is a standard procedure to allow for any public objections to the change.
