Pocatello’s Own Nathan Chandler Takes the Spotlight on Netflix

Nathan Chandler, a 32-year-old baker from Pocatello, is set to showcase his skills on Netflix’s new baking reality show, "The Blue Ribbon Baking Championship." Premiering on August 9, the show features 10 contestants vying for the top prize in a competition inspired by traditional fair baking contests.

From Local Bakery to National Stage

Chandler, who owns Confections Bakery on North Main Street, describes the show as a fair-themed baking challenge where participants compete for first, second, and third place ribbons, reminiscent of those awarded at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. The competition includes a variety of desserts, from cakes to pies and everything in between.

“I’m excited for people to see how I did,” Chandler says, despite feeling a bit uneasy about being on camera.

A Chance Encounter and Overcoming Doubts

The initial interest in Chandler’s baking skills came from a comment on his Instagram post. Skeptical about the authenticity of the message, Chandler nearly dismissed it as a scam.
