Angelina Jolie is appealing to Brad Pitt to drop his ongoing lawsuit over their former French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, in a bid to foster family healing. Jolie’s legal team has called for an end to the prolonged legal battles, urging Pitt to "end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing."
The legal dispute began when Pitt, 60, sued Jolie, 49, in February 2022. He accused her of breaching their contract by selling her stake in the Chateau Miraval to a third party without his approval.
Pitt alleged that Jolie’s sale was an attempt to "undermine [his] investment" in the vineyard they purchased together in 2008. The couple married on the estate in 2014, but their relationship soured following their separation in late 2016. They were legally single by 2019, but their post-divorce proceedings have been marred by contentious legal battles over the winery and custody of their six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
In April, Jolie’s attorneys filed a motion related to the vineyard case. They claimed Pitt would only agree to buy out Jolie’s shares if she signed a mutual nondisclosure agreement (NDA). Jolie's lawyers argued that Pitt's demand was a tactic to hide alleged "physical abuse" of Jolie, including incidents from the notorious 2016 airplane altercation with their children that led to their divorce.
