Annabel Elliot, the interior designer and sister of Queen Camilla, is no longer on the Duchy of Cornwall payroll, according to the latest accounts. Elliot, who was employed as the chief estates designer by King Charles when he was the Prince of Wales, had been tasked with decorating and updating various Duchy properties, including period holiday cottages in Cornwall, Wales, and the Isles of Scilly.
The recent Duchy accounts reveal that Elliot did not receive payment for her services during the 2023/24 fiscal year. Sources confirmed that Prince William, who has taken over the Duchy since Charles' ascension to the throne, has decided not to continue Elliot's employment. This decision, however, was described as unrelated to her performance. It is understood that her contract was always intended to be temporary and has now concluded.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams commented that it made sense for Prince William to implement his own changes and priorities. Fitzwilliams praised Elliot's significant contributions, noting that she was highly respected for her work on the Duchy's estates. William's focus includes building social housing, addressing homelessness, and prioritizing environmental issues, which may have influenced the decision to end Elliot's contract.
