On August 20, Beyoncé, known for her powerful presence both on and off the stage, unveiled her new venture into the world of spirits with the launch of her whisky brand, SirDavis. This exciting development came in collaboration with the luxury brand Moët Hennessy, and it marks a significant addition to the world of American whisky.
SirDavis, named in honor of Beyoncé's paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, draws on a rich family history. Hogue was a farmer and moonshiner during the Prohibition era in the American South, a legacy that Beyoncé proudly acknowledges. "I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling," Beyoncé shared in a press statement. "When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated."
The whisky is crafted with the expertise of Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, who meticulously developed SirDavis to feature a harmonious blend of rye and malted barley. This combination provides a unique character, marrying fruit and spice notes. According to the press release, SirDavis offers a complex flavor profile with tangy Seville oranges, sun-kissed raisins, clove, ginger, cinnamon, Demerara sugar, and toffee.
