Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has received an impressive $30 million from the Duchy of Cornwall estate for his first full year in the role, according to a newly released royal report. This substantial sum was detailed in the Duchy’s Integrated Annual Report, published on July 24, 2024.
As the newly appointed Duke of Cornwall following his father King Charles III’s ascension to the throne, Prince William’s income from the estate covers not only his personal expenses but also those of his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
The Duchy of Cornwall, established by King Edward III in 1337, is a vast estate designed to financially support the heir to the throne. It spans 130,000 acres across 23 counties in England and Wales, encompassing land, farms, houses, and other assets.
The $30 million surplus reported for the 2023-2024 financial year includes funds for official duties, charitable activities, and private living expenses.
While Prince William does not receive a traditional salary, his expenses are fully covered by the Duchy, with income tax applied to the total amount after household costs are deducted.
The Duchy of Cornwall is valued at over $1 billion and plays a crucial role in supporting the royal family. Prince William’s substantial income is indicative of the estate’s continued success under his management. His responsibilities also include overseeing the estate’s various projects and investments, which aim to benefit both the public and private sectors.
