Aerosmith recently made the heartbreaking announcement that they will be retiring from touring due to singer Steven Tyler's inability to recover from a vocal injury. The band had initially embarked on a tour called the “Peace Out… Farewell Tour,” but had to cancel all remaining dates after a final gig in Elmont, NY on Sept. 9, 2023, just three shows into the tour.
Before this final tour, Aerosmith had been actively performing live, with a residency in Las Vegas and a show at Fenway Park in Boston to mark their 50th anniversary.
However, their last album was released in 2012, and Tyler had only put out one solo album in 2016 since then.
In a statement released by the band, they expressed their gratitude to their fans for the support throughout their five-decade career. They acknowledged the role their fans played in their success and shared their appreciation for being able to share their music with the world.
The statement also addressed Tyler's vocal injury, which despite months of hard work, was deemed unable to fully recover, leading to the difficult decision to retire from touring as a band.
The band thanked their dedicated crew, team, and fans for their unwavering support and encouraged fans to continue playing their music loud and proud. They closed their statement with a heartfelt message of gratitude and a nod to their iconic song, "Dream On.
