Nicola Coughlan, aka Penelope Featherington herself, is not here for any negativity directed at her "Bridgerton" co-star, Luke Newton. After Newton faced a wave of online criticism over his personal life, Coughlan took to Instagram with a heartfelt show of support, reminding fans that real-life relationships are often far more complex than the onscreen romances we adore.
It all started when Newton, who plays the charming Colin Bridgerton, shared a series of photos from recent red carpet events, expressing gratitude for the "wild journey" of the past five years.
Coughlan, however, sensed an opportunity to shower her friend with some well-deserved love and attention. Reposting Newton's photos on her Instagram story, she gushed about his character, calling him "a true gentleman," "the kindest friend," and "a dream costar.
"Couldn’t have been luckier than to spend the last 6 months travelling the world with you @lukenewtonuk what a ride!” she added, ending the message with a heartfelt white heart emoji.
The outpouring of support from Coughlan comes amidst rumors of a real-life romance brewing between Newton and actress Antonia Roumelioti.
