Bridgerton fans, buckle up! Season 3 delivered a long-awaited payoff with Colin and Penelope's first intimate encounter, aptly dubbed "the carriage scene," and the stars are giving us a peek behind the curtain.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays the ever-so-desirable Penelope Featherington, admitted that the pressure was on to deliver a scene worthy of years of fan anticipation.
"The fans are horny little devils," Coughlan joked in a Netflix behind-the-scenes interview, "and they used to send us pictures of carriages constantly and carriages rocking. So, this has to be both beautiful, touching, romantic and sexy, which is a lot of things."
Luke Newton, who brings Colin Bridgerton to life, echoed the sentiment. "That was a lot," he confessed, describing the filming experience as "big pressure.
The scene itself is a delicious blend of vulnerability and desire. Colin, after years of obliviousness, finally realizes his feelings for Penelope. But his grand gesture of love could end in disaster.
"He’s putting himself out there and he could just be rejected and have to get out and walk home," Newton revealed, highlighting Colin's vulnerability in that moment.
